The Black Boy Writes Mentorship program is a year-long initiative that provides a pathway to eliminating barriers to entry for pre-WGA Black writers. The goal of the program is to position and equip Black writers with the resources and knowledge to acquire representation, a staffed writing position, and/or optioned content.
Get to know our 2021 and 2022 mentee cohorts, all of whom are set on changing the entertainment industry's representation of, and narratives centering, LGBTQ people, people of color, and other marginalized communities.
Black Boy Writes Media is a media and production company founded in 2020 by Mike Gauyo – a seasoned television writer and show creator: Issa Rae’s Insecure (Writer), Netflix’s Ginny and Georgia (Writer), and All Black’s Send Help (Co-Creator, Showrunner).
